Welcome to the Star Historical Museum

The Star Historical Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and displaying items that have been donated or loaned by past and present residents, depicting the history of Star, Mills County, Texas. The museum currently houses photos, collections, and family archives of the first settlers of this small town.

April 28, 2011: The Star Historical Museum is asking for your help, by donating to our Bakeless Bake Sale. See this page for details. April 28, 2011: Vertical Lift Nears Completion........ THE MUSEUM LOSES A FRIEND - DENNIS BRALEY - March 21, 2011. THE MUSEUM LOSES A FRIEND - BOBBY K. DAY On , January 10, 2011, a "Friend of the Museum," Bobby K. Day, passed away in Star. He will be buried on Saturday, January 15, 2011, in Star, at the Hurst Ranch Cemetery. November 2010: The vertical lift is upright. Soon, work will begin on the second story steel platform and lift enclosure. This will enable those with disabilities to access the second floor. The Museum is closed until September 5, 2010, due to construction on the vertical lift. However, tours are available by calling Billie Day at 325-948-3677. The Annual Memorial Day Flag-Raising Ceremony was held at the Museum. Join us for the Annual Flag-Raising Ceremony on Memorial Day, 10:00 a.m. Vertical Platform Lift construction has begun. CTTC, Hamilton Electric helps the Star Historical Museum get an LCRA grant. Thanks for attending the Christmas Tree Forest at the Museum. The Star Historical Museum's Quilt Show held on June 27, 2009 was a success. The Star Historical Museum held a Family and Friends Quilt Show on June 27, 2009. The quilts on display revealed the names of many of the relatives and friends of the communities of McGirk, Center City, Payne Gap, Pleasant Grove, Moline, Hurst Ranch, and Star. Flag flown at Star Historical Museum in honor of Lula Mae Neighbors Casbeer. The Star School Homecoming was held on Saturday, June 27, 2009. The Star Historical Museum has received donations recently in memory of the following: Lula Mae Casbeer; Wilma Cleo Carswell; Barbara Ethridge; Mary Ethridge. The Star Historical Museum celebrated Memorial Day 2009. The Star Historical Museum appeared in the May 13, 2009, Goldthwaite Eagle's "Mills County Visitor's Guide." The article was titled, "Star Historical Museum A Site To See." The Star Class of 1955 held its reunion Sunday, April 19, 2009, at the Museum.
