1949 Star Parade.

     

L.S. Karnes Texaco; Star, Texas; circa 1934.  The Texaco Station was owned by L.S. Karnes from about 1925 to 1940.  Portions of the station were used in the construction of a new Texaco built by L.S. Karnes on US Highway 84.

 

L.S. Karnes Texaco; US Highway 84; Star, Texas circa 1942.  When Hwy 84 was straightened and by-passed Star, L.S. Karnes closed down his Texaco Station in downtown Star and built this station that opened in May, 1941.  It burned in 1957.  In the background of picture #2 is the Claire Sheldon Grocery Store / Sinclair Gas Station at the intersection of Hwy 84 and Moline Road (FM 1047).
