2009:

Thanks for attending the Christmas Tree Forest at the Museum.

Visit the new Christmas Tree Forest at the Museum, now through January 1st.  Window displays include poinsettias.

The Star Historical Museum held a Family and Friends Quilt Show on June 27, 2009.  The quilts on display revealed the names of many of the relatives and friends of the communities of McGirk, Center City, Payne Gap, Pleasant Grove, Moline, Hurst Ranch, and Star.  Click HERE to read the June 17, 2009 Goldthwaite Eagle article.

The Star Historical Museum has received donations recently in memory of the following:  Lula Mae Casbeer;  Wilma Cleo Carswell;  Barbara Ethridge;  Mary Ethridge.

2008:

Thanks to Freda Decker for her donation of many artifacts to the museum, including bellows and fireplace poker sets, daisy churns, wooden bowls, and more.  Stop by for a look.......

On May 29th,  the Star Historical Museum received quilts and a fire starter, as a donation from Ms. Candy Gross and Karyl Seibert of the Texas Methodist Foundation.  Click Here to see the article appearing in the June 25th Goldthwaite Eagle.

On May 28th, a Memorial Day Flag Service was held at the Star Historical Museum.  Click Here to see the article appearing in the June 4th Goldthwaite Eagle.

On May 17th a Garage Sale was held at the Star Historical Museum to benefit the Museum.

THE MUSEUM LOSES A FRIEND - FLORINE HAMILTON SOULES  On April 25, 2008, a "Friend of the Museum," Florine Hamilton Soules, passed away.  She will be buried on Monday, April 28, 2008, 3:00 p.m. in Star, at the Hurst Ranch Cemetary.  Florine donated many artifacts and pictures to the museum.

 

2007:

THE MUSEUM MOURNS THE LOSE OF MILDRED W. HARRIS       On September 17, 2007, a “Friend of the Museum,” Mildred W. Harris, passed away in Temple.  She was buried September 20, 2007 in Star, at the Hurst Ranch Cemetary.

If you missed it, Easter Hats were on display throughout the month of April.  The museum received some hats belonging to Cornelia Boykin.

The 6th Annual Chili Supper was held Saturday, February 17th at the Star Fire Station.

The Museum roof is repaired.  The Museum received a grant for $4600.00 from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) to repair the Museum roof.  The Museum would like to thank the LCRA and Steve Young of the Hamilton County Cooperative for his recommendation to the LCRA, on behalf of the Museum.

 

2006:

On Wednesday, December 20th, the Museum hosted the 6th Annual Museum Tour and Christmas Party for over 100 students/staff of Star School.  The students enjoyed the nutcracker decors and were served cookies and Snowball Punch.

The Star Historical Museum remembers Oscar Karnes, who passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 in Eagle Pass, Texas.

The Star Historical Museum remembers several members of our community who passed away recently:  Choella Soules Clary, David Beard, Vernell Lee McWhorte, Dorothy (Dottie) Duncan Elliott, Rosa Lucas Williams, and Evelyn Soules Kincheloe.

THE MUSEUM LOSES A FRIEND OREN H. SOULES  On August 4, 2006, a "Friend of the Museum," Oren H. Soules, passed away at Goldthwaite.  He was buried on August 6, 2006 in Star, at the Hurst Ranch Cemetary.

THE MUSEUM LOSES MARY DEE SOULES  On March 11, 2006, a “Friend of the Museum,” Mary Dee Soules passed away in Goldthwaite.  Survivors include her husband, Oren H. Soules of Goldthwaite, and daughter, Susan Soules of Goldthwaite.  She was buried on March 13, 2006 in Star, at the Hurst Ranch Cemetary.

STAR CASH STORE SAFE DONATED TO MUSEUM  On Sunday, January 1st, Jimmy and Elita Witty donated the Star Cash Store safe to the museum.  The store was owned and operated by Dick Jeske.  The museum thanks the Witty's for this wonderful gift.

 

2005:

STAR SCHOOL VISITS MUSEUM  On Thursday, December 15th, the museum hosted over 100 Star School students for a tour and Christmas party.  For many of the teachers, it was their first visit.  This was our fifth year to serve punch and cookies to the entire student body.  

THE MUSEUM LOSES AVERY HAMILTON HOUSE  On December 15, 2005, a "Friend of the Museum," Avery Hamilton House, passed away at Brady.  Avery House was responsible for giving the museum many artifacts from the Star Cash Store. Many years ago he worked for Dick Jeske who owned the store.  His father helped build the Hamilton-Soules House.
